Gomel, Kaliningrad to cooperate in agriculture, construction
GOMEL, 16 June (BelTA) – Gomel Oblast and Russia’s Kaliningrad Oblast signed an action plan to implement the agreement on cooperation for 2012-2013 on 16 June.
The document was signed by the Chairman of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee Vladimir Dvornik and Kaliningrad Governor Nikolai Tsukanov. During the negotiations that preceded the signing ceremony, both leaders agreed that the existing volume of mutual trade does not correspond to economic opportunities of the regions. In 2010 the trade was as little as $9 million, accounting for 8% of the total trade of Kaliningrad Oblast with Belarus.
The parties intend to develop cooperation in almost all areas, first of all, in construction and agriculture.
During the visit, the guests from the Baltic coast visited a number of industrial and agricultural enterprises, medical and cultural institutions, and held talks with representatives of the business community.
The official delegation of Kaliningrad Oblast of Russia is in Gomel on a visit from 14 to 17 June.
