Artists from 15 countries partake in Sozhski Karagod festival
GOMEL, 16 September (BelTA) – The opening of the 6th international choreographic festival Sozhski Karagod will take place at the Tsentralny Stadium in Gomel on 16 September. Partaking in the festival will be over 1,000 artists from 15 countries, BelTA learned from the Culture Department of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee.
The opening of the festival will include performances of the National Ballet of Georgia “Sukhishvili-Ramishvili”, the National Dance Ensemble of Belarus, Vitebsk 2011 Grand Prix winner Alyona Lanskaya, Belaruasian dance companies, foreign circus artists, fire theaters. The concert will end with a laser show and fireworks.
On 16 September Gomel will host contests of folk and stage dancing, ballet and modern choreography, the opening of the Autograph Museum and the 17+17 exhibition in the Vashchenko painting gallery. The oblast capital will be the venue for the economic conference.
The opening of the 6th international choreographic festival Sozhski Karagod is held in Gomel on 15-18 September. The program will include presentations of dance companies, performances of the forum’s participants, ballet shows, a round table on the development of choreography. Several events will be held as part of the Gomel – Belarus and CIS Capital of Culture 2011 project.
The festival is aimed at preserving, developing and promoting choreography, studying modern processes in global dancing art, expanding and strengthening international creative ties, enhancing cooperation of national cultures, developing choreographic festival movement in Belarus.
The forum is sponsored by the Belarusian Culture Ministry, Gomel City Hall and the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee.
