Gomel hosts Sozhski Karagod choreographic festival
GOMEL, 15 September (BelTA) – The 6th international choreographic festival Sozhski Karagod opens in Gomel on 15 September, BelTA learned from the Culture Department of Gomel City Hall. The forum will bring together over 1,000 people.
The program of the festival includes performances of amateur folk dance companies, modern choreography, ballroom dancing and fire dance shows. Partaking in the forum will be classic dance companies, ballet theaters, winners of international choreographic festivals, etc.
The festival will open with a creative workshop with heads of the participating dance companies and a preliminary show. The cultural center in Gomel will host the performance of the National Ballet of Georgia “Sukhishvili-Ramishvili”. The Rumyantsev-Paskevich Palace will be the venue for the cultural program “Musical Assembly 2011”.
The opening of the Sozhski Karagod festival will be held at the Gomel Tsentralny Stadium on 16 September.
The festival is aimed at preserving, developing and promoting choreography, studying modern processes in global dancing art, expanding and strengthening international creative ties, enhancing cooperation of national cultures, developing choreographic festival movement in Belarus.
The forum is sponsored by the Belarusian Culture Ministry, Gomel City Hall and the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee.
